About time....downtown Phoenix TV aerials updated!

From the Cardinals game on ESPN...

Very recent shot...you can see the elevator core of CPE and even the tower crane for Cityscape. Those two projects will really help fill in the skyline, should look awesome in about 1.5 years from now.

Damn Summit is awesome, it and the City Hall building are definitely the two best towers downtown.

I just love that you took a photo of the TV!
I still think there could be a better angle than that one...

Agreed, I've worked on a few shows where they've needed to take B Roll of the Phoenix skyline and the LA/NYC crews usually ask where to get the best angles, I usually have them shoot from the South looking north or from the Southwest looking Northeast in order to see both downtown and midtown and the desert mountains in the distance.

Now TNT/ESPN needs to update their aerial (heli) flyover pictures of downtown for the NBA season.

There was another good shot from last night's game during the 3rd quarter (I think)... it was from somewhere in the northeast, probably near the Biltmore, up one of the mountains a bit. It showed the midtown skyline and the Estrellas in the background with the building thunderstorms, which were sparse enough to let the great sunset through. Of course the announcers talked about the heat directly after, rather than the great view, but oh well.

Yea...they wouldn't shut the hell up about the heat, Christ!

One of the announcers was talking about how nice Camelback Mtn. is and how great the scenery is and how you can hike up the mountain...and the other one says "Yea...if it was 300 degrees outside! It's so hot that your hand will burn off if you touch your car's hood...it's so hot that people here don't need grills for tailgate parties, you can just cook on the asphalt."

Morons.

/\ Heh heh... yeah. Although I like Tony Kornheiser, so his exaggerated jokes didn't bother me that much.

"You can go climb the mountain and go see a rattlesnake."

...or whatever Tirico said.

I think Chase Field needs a fresh paint job. I'm trying to think the last time I flew over it - it looker pretty off-white on top, which I'm assuming wasn't intentional.

It would be nice to get an angle with some mountains in the background, but that's not really possible to get Chase Field in the foreground and downtown and mountains.

Hell, I wish they would've put copper on the roof of Chase...could've called it the Copper Dome or something. Then, as it weathered and turned green, it would match the green paint that's everywhere on Chase.

The general off white-ness of the roof doesn't bother me too much, I imagine they intended it that way, its the two huge white squares that are awful. Why don't they repaint the new Chase Field logo up there? It drives me nuts.

I also think it would be cool if they added those stick on type solar panels (like whats on the Convention Center roof) to the parts of Chase's roof that are always exposed to the sun (the top panels if you will).

Solar panels are an excellent suggestion. Ideas for who would pay for them? Who paid for the Convention Center ones - the City?
