Reminds me of Bruce Springsteen's My Hometown... only seems end up better than that.

Nice pictures. I always like seeing WHL cities on here.

Are those motels on the Trans Canada Highway? Basically similar to motels along the old Route 66 to go from Illinois to California?

Being a guy who likes the beach, I am curious about these cities that are out on the middle of a prairie or desert. The Assiniboine River goes through town. Do you happen to know if people in Brandon swim in the river at all? Or do they go to some lake for summer relaxation?

One of the motels is on the Trans Canada. The other two are on secondary roads that lead from the highway into town.

Some very impressive bones, just needing some love.

I stayed in the Midway Motel once in 2005, honestly. Good value for $40. I should post this on trivago.

Amazing photos, I can't remember the last time I saw Brandon featured here. Come to think of it, I may never have.

Downtown Brandon was and could once again be a beautiful, vibrant place, but people there just seem to have a disregard for it verging on contempt. That melancholy air is reflected in the pictures.

BTW to the unacquainted, bryanscott has had his photos featured in books and publications, and his work is on prominent display here in Winnipeg. He probably wouldn't admit it but he's kind of a big deal around here Thanks for sharing these!

Nice photos the whole province of Manitoba has a very 1970s feeling to it from an architectural point of view, don't you agree?

Brandon looks like Akron, OH but without the glitter.

That armory looks a lot like our infantry one... it's obviously from the same era and maybe even same architect(s).

I love old north American towns stuck in time so was dying to see what Brandon looks like. Great tour and it didn't disappoint. Westman Immigrant Services area reminds me of that street in Back to the Future near the town clock.
