Looks like suburban hell trying to ruin a nice landscape.

Funny, that's exactly what I was thinking.

The landscape is lovely but the settlement should be done much better than that. It looks like it was done without any sensitivity or consideration of the landscape, and is basically what I'd expect to see in any other upscale western suburb.

That whole area is like that. Likely because of the climate and also as there are a lot of Mexican migrant workers on the orchards. Across the border in WA state its very similar but the towns are crap holes down there. Although I've seen houses like this in Calgary too.. don't see what the big deal is.

This whole area of the Okanagan is beautiful, don't knock it due to a few pictures guys. There's lots of camping, lakes, etc, its mainly a resort town.

Overall view.

The southern interior is indeed one of the nicest places in Canada's most beautiful province.

What is with any style of architecture anywhere?
The owner obviously liked that style and it fits the area nicely.

Usually there's some sort of cultural connection to the area when such styles are used.

There is a town just north of Osoyoos called Oliver, beautiful little place. Love the drive through here from Penticton. Wineries and orchards everywhere.

I drove through there a few months ago. The Okanagan certainly is a beautiful part of Canada.

Beautiful part of the country, but.. seriously, Osoyoos? A fucking GATED COMMUNITY?

Canada has just about zero need for these in our biggest, most dangerous cities. I'm pretty sure that the senior community and the families will leave you alone in Osoyoos.

My gut hurts from laughing when I saw that first picture. What are they doing, catering to paranoid gun-toting Yanks?? Maybe the guy who freaked out in Calgary when a couple of guys offered him free Stampede tickets would feel more comfortable there.

Gotta love the American idea of "paradise" just because it is warm and has gates (somehow equaling safety?), it is paradise

No part of Canada has native palm trees, but they do grow in Vancouver and CMA, Victoria, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, and Tofino. They just wouldn't develop from saplings to large trees in those areas is all. Just survive once they are hardy. Does Kelowna have palm trees?I don't remember.. only lived there for a summer. But if they do, then I guess Osoyoos definitely would!
