Does anybody know what those horizontal tubes are used for in Botoxic's pictures above?

My wild guess would be that it is a fixture to feed individual rebar horizontally so that all the individual vertical rebar cages can be tied together.

But that's just a guess.

According to an update by ABC 7 Salesforce Tower will be topped out by years end rising an average of 1 floor every 3 weeks. http://abc7news.com/traffic/transbay...stone/1160782/

It depends upon how long it takes to place the steel around the core, but it seems plausible.

That's got to be the most rebar I've ever seen used on an American skyscraper. Absolutely amazing feat of engineering

The Wilshire Grand core did the same thing. 4' thick rebar cages starting at the bottom of the pit on up to create the core. I don't remember this size and thickness of rebar used in any other buildings.

^^Usually the massive rebar cages are hidden behind the climbing forms, but as the climbing forms haven't been assembled yet, we get to see the rebar in all its glory.
