I had read that article, I'm just surprised the board bought it. Next thing you know, someone will be demanding that we buy it and turn it into a park.

Lol, I saw the meeting the residents were really professional about the issue, plus the fact that about 30 residents showed up and made a convincing argument forced the board to deny or look like fools.

Typhoons only happen in the Pacific. Miami's skyline is really coming along.

The city now requires that developers submit documents showing the other projects submitted in the area of a new proposal (for traffic analysis and such). Here is the submittal by the Herald for their proposal. By my count that would be 9919 new units in just this little view (a whole bunch more are just outside the view to the north).

Hey guys...I'm back. I've been really busy with work. I still pass by and keep updated by reading the board, but usually don't have time to post. On a side note here...Miami's development-friendly commish was arrested last night at MIA. The mug shot is not pretty to look at...but here it is

Miami Commissioner Accused Of Hitting Cops At Airport
Johnny Winton Charged With Battery On Officer
POSTED: 11:31 pm EDT May 15, 2006
UPDATED: 10:15 am EDT May 16, 2006
MIAMI -- A prominent Miami politician was arrested Monday night at Miami International Airport.

Real estate developer and City Commissioner Johnny Winton was waiting for a flight out of MIA that was delayed. Witnesses said Winton complained to the ticket agent and became so upset and agitated that Miami-Dade police officers were called.

Officers asked Winton to leave, and said that he refused. They detained Winton and, as he was being taken out, he is accused of kicking one officer and elbowing another.

Then, Winton slipped, fell and hit his head, authorities said.

Winton was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Winton faces one count of disorderly conduct and two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.

Ouch. Sure doesn't look like he slipped and fell and hit his head though. I might buy that a couple police batons "slipped" and hit his head...

Hehe, nice mugshot. I hope he is not too beat up to attend next week's commision meeting when I go with several other Edgewater residents to ask that they deny the plans for the 41 story Aja on the Bay (formerly known as Elektra on the Bay). Talk about a structure that is totally disproportionate for the neighborhood (NE 27th St) and totally unfriendly to all principles of smart urbanity.

Based on how long Inifinity I took we'll probably see a groundbreaking in 2028, if at all.

To be fair, Infinity I was held up by a Liz Calderon lawsuit, as memory serves.

True. Meanwhile, NeoVertika is topped out and NeoWind will probably finish before InfinityI does.

Just saying, as a business decision, the lawsuit was brilliant.

Some new EWT renderings. I think I would like it better without the skybridges:

Nice find. I agree I'm not crazy about the sky bridges. I do like how the towers come straight down to the street with the parking deck in the middle.
