They look a little dry, yeah. But mussels are impossible to make bad. So I'd still love them.

Wow... Impressive!

I love them done in garlic butter or white wine. I don't like curry - which is too bad because it's a very popular way to do them here.

Lunch at Tock's. It's a Montreal deli here in Shanghai, and it's legit.

Some poutine

Matzo Ball soup

A really good rueben

Happy Hummus Hut. Listening to a waiter from Montreal talk to a customer from Halifax about how much they love living here. Trying to hide my erection... Lol

Rice paper rolls, one curry (still don't enjoy curry - I've tried everything. This one, though, was O.K. I finished every bite and only shuddered once), one taco. Lots of carrot and raisins in them. Fantastic flavour. Chickpea salad with a roasted red pepper paste as dressing.

And a Pride flag in the window. What's not to love?

Oh, but you can. Check out the tourists (from France, I think. In any event, they had an accent and were sharing stories about Paris with their waitress - apparently this place offers a coffee brand they've only found there) with their winter coats on, . It is BONE-CHILLINGLY cold here today. The walk from this place to my car (only a couple of blocks) almost killed me. My hands were numb by the time I sat down.

Golden Bell charbroiled chicken sate soup. So pho-king good!
Urbanspoon lists 199 Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary. For comparison, they list 129 Vietnamese restos in New York City.

Honestly, I thought there would be more than 199. There's a Vietnamese place on every corner.

BTW, I love the soups at the Golden Bell, the crushed peanut added to the base is the bomb.

Actually, it went up to 25,1°C yesterday in Montreal. Spent most of the day in the pool! Quite a contrast with Quebec City where the temperature was a good 10°C lower, as it often happens at this time of the year. It means on the way to Quebec City, you lost 1°C for every 30km.

I remember that once, a few years ago, at the end of August, I left Montreal in the afternoon where is was 28°C, went through Quebec City where the temperature had dropped to around 12°C and arrived in Saguenay in the evening where it was around 5°C. I was still wearing my t-shirt and bermudas, it was freezing!

That is so cool that there is a Montreal style deli in Shanghai.

Red leaf lettuce, fennel, parsley, green onions, 2 kinds of basil, and cilantro from my garden (plus store bought produce).
