Designs can always be better. As far as imposing, I don't get that. The building is clearly and obviously the dominant tower of the area. I see it on the skyline everyday, and it's no opinion it just is. I was initially surprised by that. However, with towers like 432 Park and 225 W. 57th on the way, it won't be the dominant tower for long. That says so much about the New York skyline.

You're entitled to your opinion, as we all are, but if it were wider it would be shorter (assuming the same volume/square footage). I think it imposes just fine.

The tower is extremely imposing from central park, that much I can say.

The design should have been better? Well, of course, the design could always be better but that is a never ending story. There is always a better design out there, your comment is odd.

the views... are... JAW DROPPING!

and the new WTC Complex will be perfectly framed from the upper floors where it's visible.

epic.

With views like that, not only will you be able to watch the ball drop on New Year's eve, but you can also view the fireworks on July 4th.

Not to mention the views of Central Park!

It's too bad this wasn't taller. I mean, the height now is great, but just imagine what the views would have been like with it say 100 to 250 feet taller. It would have had the park views plus the views of both rivers. Either way, the views are impressive. I can't imagine how lucky someone would be to enjoy the view of greenery of Central Park with the convenience of the city.

I'm sure the top of the tower would have been too narrow due to the FAR requirements if it went taller.

Just a curvature of camera lens..You wouldn't be able to see curvature of the Earth from way higher point even from 1 km..

Awwww, that's a pity.

To stay on topic, it's glad to see this thing approaching completion. It was already very beautiful when I visited the site last week.

As I understand, they're waiting for the cladding to reach the upper floors before they add in the top, correct? Pardon my ignorance, but can anyone explain why?

I thought One57 only used a portion of the available air-rights?

GREAT shot. I'm very interested to learn how the photographer got to this vantage point. That took some serious balls.
