Wanted to report that Velocity has moved to their new location across the street so that should mean this project will get going fairly soon.

None so far. Best we have is that line drawing a page or two back.

This project didn't need to go to the Design Commission because it got a zoning change from the PC. The DC is where we usually get the first renderings. I hope we get some when Greystar announces a groundbreaking. I've been checking Austin Symphony's website and their social media for renderings, but no luck. I would think they might like to show off their new offices.

The site plan was fast tracked which means the current approval is for Demo/site prep. This means they can go ahead and start that work while the building itself is waiting for final approval. Several big projects have gone this route including 6XG and one or two of the Greenwater towers.

It looks like one of the hundreds of identical towers thrown up in China's ghost cities.

I agree. Here's what the other side of the building looks like:

Demo permits were filed last week for the Austin Symphony offices and the old Velocity Credit Union.

Tower crane plans posted. This says 433 feet for the crane at its highest.

Yep this one’s about to kick off. No pic but there were workers all over as I passed by yesterday.

That's good news. They split the site plan in two to get approval to start demo and site prep while the tower was still waiting for approval. The second site plan for the tower was filed today. But it should get quick approval since it was pretty far along when they decided to split it.
It seems like the delay for approval might be related to a change in plans during the process to allow for a public access path between this project and the Symphony's amphitheater.

As seen from the Alexan webcam. Fencing has gone up around the site as scheduled today. Bring on the demo!
