But I'd perhaps say yes, that little portion could be considered "central", it's more connected geographically and economically to Alberta than BC anyways

I know you were. I also figured you were using a modern map of Ontario over one from when the university was founded. (and why Northern Ontario is Northern Ontario and Western Ontario is Western Ontario.)

The west doesn't start at the rockies, I'm in Calgary and it is 100% western Canada. That's like saying the East begins at the Gulf of St Lawrence. You guys come up with some pretty random shit on here...

The west in my opinion starts at the Manitoba/Ontario boarder. From Edmonton it is about an 11 and a half hr drive to Vancouver and about a 15 hr drive to the Ontario border.

I would also guess that most Winnipeggers would feel more at home in Edmonton or Saskatoon than in Hamilton, Ottawa or London.

The Ontario - Manitoba line although Thunder Bay feels more connected to Winnipeg than it does Toronto. They even had a Safeway!
