Looks like this is the gap in the separated path where they will be building a new path on a former railway RoW.
This is the intersection at 5th Ave. where the path currently goes to the sidewalk, but the map shows a new path away from Stewardson Way.

Didn't realize it's being mentioned already

East of 5th is the real problem area, as mentioned, as the bike path basically ends at 5th for about 220metres before it starts again.

The section between 18th/River Rd and 5th isn't that bad, is it? I can't remember. The map indicates upgrades for this section as well.

I wish COV and/ or Translink will address the situation along Kent Ave (Parallel to Marine) at some point. Currently it looks like tanks rolled over it and some sections look like were bombed by artillery.

It's not that bad, but there's one section of it where a retaining wall looks like it's about to fall into a neighbouring warehouse (the path is on top of the wall), and the road crossings are pretty dodgy as well.

45th Ave

There is a new section of separated bike lane now open on W 45th in Vancouver.
