Terrible! I just found out that in the event of a zombie outbreak Mount Pearl and Iqaluit would be the worst places (in Canada) to be. On the contrary, Ottawa and Montreal are the safest

https://www.cgmagonline.com/news/zom...anada-survive/

However, in my opinion, this ranking does not consider the climate of a location because films about the living dead show that the colder it is, the more likely it is that zombies will walk less quickly.

5C and cloudy today.

Low of 0C this morning. Woke up to snow flakes. I know some parts of the island got a cm or so but downtown was just flakes. We never went below zero so we delayed the first freeze by 24 hours. We are freezing in the next few hours though.

The warmspot was Squamish, BC at 14.8C.

Warmest low was Sable Island, BC at 7.3C

It's February in Canada... I am prepared mentally by that time. -10C or colder in October??? Are you kidding me???

Anyway, Kingston froze at 1AM. This means it is added as of Oct 30th as it is before 2AM.
Charlottetown was at 0C for 6 straight hours this evening but never dipped below zero. Close call for Sydney this morning as well (0.2C).

Did it not snow in Montreal yesterday?...in October. That's just as bad if not worse.

Anyway we've had our first freeze this morning. I see Montreal has, also.

We did indeed get our first dusting of snow downtown as well.

And I had my first snowy bus ride to work! I can confirm, without a car, snow is immeasurably less annoying than rain.

Pics I n increasing order of elevation

My bus stop at the top of my block.

And then there were 3. And all of them will likely fall tonight.

We do need to discuss tie-breakers....winner will have to come down to hourly observations. If the final two cities freeze on the same hourly observation, do we go with the warmer temperature as the "winner"?

Traditionally the hardest frost on a particular date is listed first, but, in terms of an overall winner, I suggest we make the winner chronological.

And, yes, in terms of a chronological tie, the warmest temperature wins.

I don't believe Charlottetown has ever won, whereas Halifax has and I believe Sydney has as well. Cheer for the underdog!

Up to 5,000 customers have lost power in Moncton due to heavy snow laden tree branches contacting power lines.

Currently -2C in the city at 9 AM and sunny, going up to +4C this afternoon.

TWN's hourly forecast has both Charlottetown and Halifax reaching -1 at 2am and Sydney reaching a low of 0 at 6am. My $ is on Sydney as the winner this year.

Currently we're at 5 and heading to 8 in sunshine today. The normal high is 10 so we'll call it seasonal.

Reminds me of Hog Island, one of the barrier dune islands in PEI along the northern fringe of Malpeque Bay.

When I was doing my undergraduate biology degree at UPEI, we went on a field trip out to the island. We crossed a brackish channel in small zodiacs, trudged through a salt marsh at the back of the dune, and then crested the dune on the way to the beach.

I will always remember the moment I crested the dune and saw a continual barrier dune system curving to the southeast, all the way to the horizon, with the most perfect, wonderful beach fronting the dune system. The waves were crashing on the beach and seals were sunning themselves everywhere, and, most importantly, there was not a human or a human built edifice to be seen, anywhere........

It was all so beautiful and unspoiled. It was a near religious experience.

I saw a few flurries last night but the grounds too warm for it to stick here in KW.

SHH, I didn't realize you'd sold your car. It's certainly cheaper taking transit than driving. Unfortunately, I'm moving back to Toronto and as a new driver, my insurance is going to double. One reason I'm looking to move somewhere cheaper like 1) Eastern Ontario 2) Eastern Townships 3) Winnipeg 4) Saskatoon 5) Edmonton or Lethbridge?

I recognize that Aylmer housing estate: Southside of the main drag closest to the bridge?

I don’t think ground temperature had to do with it. The temperature here was in the upper teens and low 20’s just a few days ago and the ground certainly wasn’t anywhere near frozen, and a dusting of snow still managed to accumulate on some surfaces. You probably just got less over there so it didn’t have a chance to accumulate.

And that Aylmer neighborhood has to be in la Plateau, I think you’re confusing it with something else. It’s probably in Hull actually but close to the boundary (or in the easternmost parts of Aylmer… now that I think about it the latter is more likely).

Sun returned and the snow is almost gone up where I am; it’s been gone most of the day downtown.
