That building is not even that old. Changing the facade of the entire building seems a little unnecessary. Is this just for aesthetics?

They aren’t replacing the entire facade. They’re doing a 6 story retail podium wrapped around the building. Replacing the facade has never been mentioned in any article about this reno.

My brother's company is doing the Campanile reno. They are replacing the concrete panel facade for the entire building, with gray concrete.

This is Dewberry. He doesn't make sense.

Yeah you can even see the new building's facade in the recent rendering.

So, what happened to the 6 story addition?

Damn that is about the ugliest building I have ever seen. It makes the Boston City Hall look like a masterpiece. I hope future projects with similar budgets are just a simple box with windows instead of the crazy fake flair they add to buildings like this.

Yikes, looks like the Fulton county jail from that angle. I'm just waiting for them to open up the damn sidewalk.

i was kind of thinking the same thing - imagine going to architecture school because you had a passion for good design, and then being forced to water your shit down so much that you ended up with... this. yikes.

I can in-fact confirm that not everyone in architecture school has a "passion for good design". There are a lot of peers I know who succeeded at being great at the technical aspect of architecture but had little to no passion and/or understanding of how to design better.

LPBA is known for being a specialist in these limited-service hotels because they are cheap and cater their designs to the developers' proforma.

Let's also be frank - this firm's proud of marketing themselves with the following:
"architecture: straightforward, workable design"
"engineering: efficient and practical"
"interiors: clean and efficient"

LPB Atlanta Firm
