There has to be someone that a group of Republicans can put forward that is acceptable to the Democrats as well. Sure, it's a GOP shitshow, but something needs to break and Dems need to also recognize they lost the election, a Republican gets to be speaker and they need to work to get this show on the road.

The Democrats did not lose the election. They have fewer elected representatives in Congress. Not the same thing.

If just a few Republicans would vote for Hakeem Jeffries it would all be over by now. The Democrats should absolutely not help the Republicans from digging their own hole.

Former GOP speaker, the ever emotional John Boehner (2011-2015) once referred to the group of Republicans that constantly obstruct the House of Representatives as "terrorists" because they always seem to hold the American government hostage.
It's only worse now with many MAGA members: MTG, Boebert, Butthead uh I mean Matt Gaetz, etc

its basically 20 or so maga republicans holding the party hostage. moderates refuse to support anyone the maga supporters want as house leader and vice versa when maga puts forward their candidates. i think in the next few days or so the 190 or so moderate republicans will have to extend a deal with the dems giving more power to the temp house leader mchenry so spending bills can pass and military members get paid otherwise its a government shutdown.

Yes, they went from majority to minority. That is a loss.

For those worried about the Canadians of Convenience "issue", the 2006 evacuation of Lebanese-Canadians was actually the catalyst to changing citizenship rules

Public displeasure over Canadian citizens evacuated from Lebanon during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict spurred Bill C-37, to amend the Citizenship Act. Until that point, it was possible for Canadian citizens to pass on their citizenship to endless generations born outside Canada.

I would guess that a lot of black Americans today identify with Islam to some degree or are Muslim even if they didn't just inherit the religion in a straightforward way.

Then on top of that you've got the George W. Bush era excesses which tended to push progressives to be not just anti-war but also pro-Muslim. There's an idea generally that Muslims are a victim group. I am not sure this applies to the Saudis or Supreme Leader of Iran.
All understood. Still, you would normally expect better from the official spokesperson for the most powerful human being on earth.

She's gotten off luckily on this one so far.

Yes, in response to widespread outrage from Canadians on the money spent. Not sure why people think there is a huge swell of support to evacuate these people now.

That was actually his point in the article. He pointed out that Air Canada might not have been so accommodating to one of his constituents. That is why he wants to address the issue.

Mike Johnson of Louisiana has finally secured enough GOP votes to become next speaker of the house. He's kinda a milqutoast conservative that appease both sides of maga and non maga Republicans.

In addition to what Wigs posted he's also an anti abortion extremist who wants a national ban and considers any type of abortion murder.

I think he's more of just a nobody. They chose him because he's unknown to most people unlike Jim Jordan. He lacks the scandals (so far) but has the same deranged agenda.

Another hail mary from Bombardier.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/busi...ircraft-boeing

My spy's tell me that the proposal is going to TB on Nov 1st. On another note, according to my source, Bombardier was told to STFU about this. Clearly they don't take orders from anyone.
