It is much more to do with how poorly run that Dollar Tree is. I have helped plan some larger events and needs more than one of an item. For cost reasons some of the items we use are from Dollar Tree. I have literally called every Dollar Tree in Winnipeg to do stock checks. There are only two locations that consistently have issues with in and the former downtown location took the top spot by a wide margin. Cannot say I am at all sad to see that place go.

I was at the outlet mall yesterday briefly, and I can't recall many times I have been in a mall that was busier with people. Long weekend was certainly good to that whole operation. All the talk of retail being dead certainly did not appear to ring true. Every time I go there, I find myself impressed with the number of people that are there walking around. Other malls don't do so well obviously, but this one does.

On top of this, they continue to build out the site for more retailers to set up in the periphery. I forget who's behind the development, but it looks like they knew what they were doing.

I mean yeah a ton of people with money and virtually no skids in that area. Of course it’s gonna be packed.

The conversion back to Rona Brand was announced a few months ago. The signage at the Lowe's Panet Rd store has not yet changed to Rona as of my last pass by a few days ago.

As I understand it the product line will be the same as its the same owner group.

With Rona and Lowes merging
From CJOB:
The Rona at Kenaston will be closing sometime this year (blowout sale now started)
while the Rona at Sargent will remain, while shifting to help professional contractors.

Probably the long rumoured second Build-a-bear location.

Ground floor, north (mall) side of the former Sears location is definitely under renovation currently. Likely for the Zara store.

It looks like Zara (Polo Park) is ready to open soon, they remove the hoarding right by Apple Court, and from the looks of it, merchandise it being setup. I could see them opening in time for Black Friday.

Sounds like Decathalon will be looking at a Winnipeg store in the coming years. Currently expanding in BC and Alberta.

from - https://retail-insider.com/retail-in...ned-interview/

“There are provinces we still do not address like Manitoba, Saskatchewan. Winnipeg is probably on the run map for the coming years. Our plan is also to open more stores in Vancouver because we probably need more than three stores as a minimum to be able to correctly address all the Vancouver market,” he said.
