Awesome old building! It's sad to see the curve covered up by the City Centre Garage... Its a unique remnant of Boise's railroad history!

Both hotels under construction on Capitol are so close to each other they could possibly use the same crane.

Found Landscape concept rendering, but no new designs since they came up with the multi color renderings that have been posted.

Not as sexy as downtown high-rise and mid-rise development, but regarding Esther Simplot Park; it looks like the pumps are gone at Esther's Pond and it's being allowed to fill. IIRC, when they drained Quinn's for the levee widening for the wave, it took quite a few months to refill. If you get a chance, check out the boat and car at the bottom.

Foster Warehouse.

Cynic, I shot photos of the park progress including the pond bottom last weekend while walking my dog. I will get a few ready to post.

Thanks! I was hoping there were some new renderings that weren't so.... brown.

Sven Berg at the Idaho Statesman put out a good article last night highlighting the active projects (including one or two still in the planning stages).

fyi, there's a new rendering of the Afton (well, it's new to me) on their home page:

https://theafton.com/#afton-home

anyone know if the Inn at Capitol will have a tower crane, or are they just using mobile cranes?

the quality is poor, but you can check out the Marriott's progress through the capitol/myrtle traffic cam:

Looks as if another brewery is opening, at 1026 S LA POINTE ST in the Lusk neighborhood. The Lift recently opened a new location at 1010 S. La Pointe St.

There is also a brewery opening soon on Idaho Street near 27th; http://www.clairvoyantbrewing.com/.

Boise = beer town.

This rendering of the Residence Inn by Marriott will probably be the final design. The Spring Hill Suites by Marriott on Parkcenter has about the same color scheme. Also the Inn at 500 S Capitol is only 6 floors, so will probably will use regular cranes.

I am not sure what is more attractive, the hotel or that van or this dancing weiner.

I will save my final judgment as the building progresses and we can actually see how it will look.

I don't think the renderings give it enough credit. They lack a lot of the finer details that gives a building depth/realism, such as joints in the panels and brick.
The elevation looks a lot nicer building then the renderings.

Here is an old photo showing the Foster's Warehouse and the curved wall that is hidden by the parking garage. I attempted to find more old photos of the rear of the building but have had no luck.

I with the Royal Block still existed. Whoever decided to have that torn down is not a fan of mine.

Here is the link to the Preservation Idaho website where I obtained this.

I agree. This rendering looks much better. Hopefully some of that depth comes out in the final product. In the previous rendering, the Marriott looks significantly taller than the Hampton (although it might just be the angle that it was superimposed). Does anyone know the proposed height of the Marriott?

*Edit. Never mind. I did some searching and found out that the proposed height is 138' whereas the height of the Hampton is 120'.
