Just trade them all for draft picks and rebuild. A good landing spot for a player or two is Utah. They have the most cap space and need some star players to ensure fans take to the new team and stick with them. And while you can mock the core 4 (5 if you count Reilly) for the lack of playoff performance (and I certainly do) - they are integral for the team to make the playoffs. Without them, the Leafs wouldn't even sniff a playoff appearance.
Again, what is the enticement for the player to say "sure, I'll waive my NMC and go there"?. The fun of going from Florida and Boston as division rivals to Dallas and Colorado (no offence Winnipeg lol)?

lol...Chicago would be virtually insane to give up a generational player. The only way I can see something like that happening, is if Bedard pulled a Lindros and refused to sign with the Blackhawks. In that case, Toronto would be looking at giving up multiple 1st round picks, and at least $200 million in cash, on top of multiple star players. I'm talking Marner, Reilly, and pretty much all of Toronto's top prospects.

Can you imagine Marner in Winnipeg?

Tavares is ancient now in NHL years. Leafs need to get rid of that cap hit but who is going to pick him up?

In Marner's case - there's a lot of incentive to waive it. He's enemy #1 in Toronto and can't take the pressure from fans and media. He's going to want out.

Yep. I'm on the fence about whether Marner or Nylander should go. Nylander seems to be the more "complete" player at this point but I think Marner is the smarter one, and based on his career assists (usually leading the team) he does so much to set up his linemates. That will be missed, unless it can be replaced.

Too much money is tied up among a few offensive players. Somebody has got to go, to hopefully bring some balance.

Toronto is going to have to eat some salary in the near term, however, if they can find trade partners.

TONS of tickets available for game 3 and 4 right now from $335-900+.

It's a bit crazy in my mind how many re-sale tickets there are, but reminds me the state of professional sports. Kinda sad.

Nice rest for Canucks/Oilers, starting on Wednesday. Bruins have to lace them up again tonight to lose to Florida.

Holy moly Bruins.

39 shots against, 5 unanswered and pretty good control of the game.

Can never count out The Big Mo in early series. Always nice to have a rest before the Stanley Cup Final but it quite often seems the team with momentum coming out of round 1 carries it into round 2, where the rested team needs to get back into the swing of it. I don't expect a sweep or anything outlandish, but the Bruins definitely made a statement last night.

Exactly. There's no way of measuring the benefit of extra rest. And in some cases, it hurts your team vs. momentum or sharpness. There's just too many intangible factors and too much emphasis is placed on extra rest.

Rest is great if your players have actual injuries. Pro athletes don't need the rest because they are "tired" like regular people would.

Even though the Bruins bounce Florida last night, Florida will still take the series.
Agree with the Rangers over the Hurricanes. Rangers, just a bit better, especially in goal.
I think the Stars will edge out the Avalanche. They don't have that explosive top line, but I think they're more rounded team.
The Oilers are far more playoff experienced than Vancouver, giving Colorado and Vegas a run in 2022 and 2023 respectively...both of whom went on to win the cup those years. The current Vancouver team hasn't experienced tough playoff hockey yet and will look like a deer caught in the headlights.
Also not that history matters, but FWIW Vancouver is 2-7 against Alberta teams.

NYR in 2OT with a very fun game to watch and great series thus far.

DAL up 3-0 is now 3-2...
