Those panels are pretty much exactly like the ones on 300 Colorado that it uses as a backdrop for its lights in the crown. That being said, this thing is gonna be a beacon on the skyline once the lights come on. What's different about this one, though, is that each of those little boxes would need a light in them to fill that space since there's a platform between each one, which would prevent a roof based light from reaching the top. That's actually a good thing since it means more light(s) and likely color options. Unless I'm wrong and they're only planning on lining the top ring of the crown, which wouldn't make sense since they designed such a huge space that *could* be lit.

Yeah man I'm excited about this one, it's gonna be so lit once it's lighted up. It's already an eye candy from pretty much all angles, you can't miss it. I think the lighting for this one is gonna look so sleek.

Reposting this from SproutingTower's post in the 405 CO thread:

The reflection of the vertical fins in the sloped side of the south face is a really cool effect I've noticed in a few pictures now. It creates a kind of V-shaped mirage that seems to go into the building.

Love that pic - especially the old vs new contrast with Abner Cook’s 1855 Sampson Building. Plus the Norwood Tower being across the street is an amazing statement of different eras of commercial development in Austin’s history all within a couple of blocks of each other.

The reflection on the Indeed is magnificent.

Consider how small the One American Center looked from there. Pretty amazing that a building that dwarfs the One American Center still can look small when viewed from certain angles. Just comparing Chase and 300 W6th next to the new tower make them look even smaller than they were before.

Yep. For me, the buildings that always get my attention that way are the Hotel ZaZa, 301 Congress, and The Monarch. Each of those are 300 footers, and 20+ years ago they would have been among our tallest. Now they are shockingly short whenever I see them, and sometimes I don't see them at all. I saw The Monarch earlier this week at night and was kind of taken aback by how pretty it was lit up and was sad that it doesn't appear on the skyline more often. There are still some buildings I wish I could switch places with. Ones that are better filler designs than something creating the face of our skyline.

Wait until 6X tops out. There will be a whole bunch of puny looking buildings that once stood tall, in the shadow of it. But there are two perspectives, the distant view and the equalizing view from street level.

Why is this tower listed as being 554' tall on Wikipedia?

Change it. It's Wikipedia.

The most recent site plan and elevations we've seen show it at 542 feet. My guess is they read the 555 foot height off of those same documents we had here. And maybe the reason for the 554 foot number instead of 555 feet is it was something like 554 feet 8 inches, and they rounded up.

Does anyone remember what document it was that the 555 foot height came from? Was that an FAA permit or developer related?

Yep. I'm looking at that set of elevations now - 555 feet with 36 floors.

Curious about what's in the top of that tower? So was I. (Spoiler alert: it's the same thing that's on top of every building. ) Additional pix here: https://imgur.com/a/RmodyKT

Great pictures. Looks like they are building a sky deck up there. Wonder if it will be open to the public?

Its really small, so I doubt it. I think it an amenity gesture for the office workers, that and the notch outs.
