I believe Onni owns that site.

Ahh - so would this be live-work condos?
That would explain why it is listed under "Mixed Use" at the website, and the presence of balconies.

Is Lot O separate from 401 Great Northern Way?

401 GNW went through an UDP application to the city in February, and the models for it look nothing like the ones posted above.

The renders I posted are probably out of date then.

The address is 401 GNW, that suggests the site is at the western end of the same block as Lot O, but looking a GoogleMaps, the street is marked East 2nd Ave. to the west of Lot O, so Lot O could have a 401 GNW address.
You can also see the corner open space over the SkyTrain RoW.

That would be a shame; the building in the renders looks more interesting than the boxes the model depicts.

Based on the property diagram on the rezoning boards up at 401 GNW, it will be the 2 building design as presented to UDP.

There was an open house tonight at CDM to get feedback on the plans for the campus land. The presented documents are available as PDFs on the CoV site: http://vancouver.ca/home-property-de...thern-way.aspx

Of note, 1933 Fraser is scheduled to be completed in 2016, same year as the new Emily Carr building. Building on the west side of the property is expected to hold off until some sort of conclusion is reached about SkyTrain, but they are planning to bring everything up to the elevation of Great Northern Way.

An update on the project as it continues progressing. Lots of interesting details, I'm not going to surmise though so anyone interested in digging out the juicy bits?

A lot of stuff on the Broadway Subway:

Quote:
It is anticipated that the Campus Lands will be the primary staging area for the tunnel boring machine and associated operations for the construction of the Broadway Subway (Figure 7). In 2011, as part of the evaluation of a new SkyTrain alignment, TransLink identified a staging area required for construction. During the Structure Planning process, City staff along with GNWC Trust worked with TransLink and their consultants to refine the 2011 staging area with site planning and grading options that minimize impacts to both Broadway Subway construction and the development aspirations of the GNWC Trust.

The analysis presented a modified staging area (see Figure 7) and identified impacts to phase one, pre-SkyTrain development sites. The City and the GNWC Trust are currently working together to find a balanced solution which mitigates the impacts of the proposed staging area on GNWC Trust’s development program but provides certainty for the successful construction of the Broadway Subway which will extend the Millennium Line westward.
Emily Carr's new building:

Quote:
In December 2013, Emily Carr University issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to three teams for the design, construction and financing of the new facility. The RFP follows a public-private partnership model through Partnerships BC, a Provincial body under the Ministry of Finance. Shortly after the selection of a team in 2014, a proposal will be submitted as a Development Permit under existing zoning.

Hello (first message here!), do you guys have any ideas about what's going on on Lot P? Height limits?
I am looking into it because I like the Canvas on Lot O and considering purchasing one condo there. Of course, knowing Canvas is 6 floors tall, if they build a 150 ft tower in front of Canvas, I'll walk away...
All I found was live-work condos + rental for students. No height limits for lot P.
Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forum.
Haven't seen anything on those sites, but the fact that the site plan says "tower" in 2 places suggests it will be taller than 6 storeys.

Here's some updates about Canvas by ONNI (pics from Vancouver4life website)

+ pics by me of the future location/lot:

They updated their website also.
I love it personally!

Also, there's a Open House on April 15th, 2014 about the rezoning for the Great Northern Emily Carr campus. http://vancouver.ca/home-property-de...thern-way.aspx

I believe there's a vote tomorrow regarding the proposed building height increases.

Does anyone know what the current status is with regards to the existing BCIT building at 555 GNW? The schedule in the RFPs said that demolition would be starting this month, but there has (thus far) been nothing to indicate that on site.

They've been moving stuff out of the BCIT building at 555 GNW and started putting up construction fencing last Friday.

Photo by me, on August 12th.
