From the ABJ article, behind the paywall (which often lags on my computer, so I can copy and paste the article quickly into my word processor before the paywall kicks on -- that way I can read it):

Quote:
• $18 million: Element by Westin hotel at 10728 Burnet Road. The owner is DBG Austin Domain LLC, an entity located in Plano, Texas. The six-story hotel is scheduled to break ground later this year and be completed in December 2018. JRK Design Inc. in Fort Worth is the design firm.

Nice find. I'd expect that thing to go up pretty quickly.

Here's a rendering of Domain 11 and Domain 12 (on the left), but I don't recall what the building on the right is.

That little curve on 12 is nice to break up the monotony of cubic rectangles in that rendering.

These are going to be big. Besides their height which is taller than anything outside of the core, they're big buildings. They're really going to show up on the horizon.

Domain 12 looks to be every bit as big as Third + Shoal, just laying on its side.

New crane bases are going up. Not sure if 11 or 12 or both though.

Cranes look to be going up on the Domain 11 site, looks like Domain 12 is a staging area for now.

Sweet. They're drilling for the foundation there, too.

Per FAA filings, the two Domain 11 cranes will be 310' and 260'. The building is listed as 236'. 310' has to be a record crane height for a project outside of downtown. Someplace called Anson, TX has something like 700 transmission line towers going up.

Hilarious and true.

You'd think, with all the meticulous refurb the rest of the site is getting that the retention pond would also get some attention. Not sure if that's just what happens with retention ponds but this one is particularly gross.

Here are a few photos I took over the past week

The Domain Tower - work is underway on the top/11th floor.

The Flatiron

Cranes for the 15 story Domain 11 tower (Home Away).

Looking south from the northbound Mopac frontage road near Scofield Ridge Pkwy. The Domain tower (center) sits on slightly higher ground than the rest of the Domain development and is quite prominent.

Other views of The Domain from the north.

Domain Tower (left), Domain 8 (center) and Domain 11 cranes (right)

great Domain update pictures. You can see those buildings from so many places now around north austin. Wish it had the height of something like the area around San Antonio's Airport.

Great update Mopacs. Also happy to see that The Flatiron has started, this will help densify that area near the Domain Tower.

Ooh, I was going to tell you, Mopacs, if you haven't already, there are some decent views from the Oracle campus parking garage at Riata Vista Circle and West Parmer Lane. The views of the Domain there are decent. I have to post them, but I snapped a few pics from there a week and a half ago.
