As Arrakis said, this rumour has been around forever and I would agree that it would probably never happen. However, after finding this article it now makes me think it's more possible than before. Probably still unlikely in my opinion but one can only hope..

And here’s the link to to the smaller downtown Toronto IKEA:

Yup...
"In the US (North America), new store locations will open in cities including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago." ... and St. John's!

I still believe that St. John’s is way too small, even with the metro population to support a full sized IKEA Store.
Though lately IKEA have been talking about establishing stores with a much smaller footprint so that might be a possibly. I know they are putting a much smaller IKEA store in downtown Toronto so maybe they’ll explore other areas of Canada too including Newfoundland with that concept.

I heard it from a real estate agent in St. John's who's familiar with what's happening in the city. We'll see I guess!

So just another rumour as before.

Basically I don’t believe any rumours of IKEA coming here unless it comes from the source itself, IKEA or Plaza REIT which handles all of Galways tenants. If anything does come from the rumours it’ll be all over the news for sure.

Something going up on the corner ot the last Galway roundabout. Corner doesn't sound right. There is a sign as well for Galway Wellness Center. I assume that is what it is.

Supplement King is opening up in Galway on Monday. I believe it's in the strip that contains Starbucks and Dagwood's. With Rogers and Spiritleaf also opening, Galway is now down to just 3 empty units in the buildings already constructed. This will soon be 2, as the unit between Scotiabank and Orange Theory now has under construction signs displayed as they prepare the unit for a tenant.

Fuzz Wax Bar will be Galway's newest tenant. It's going in the space between Scotiabank and Orangetheory.

Happened to notice a soldier figure at the last roundabout in Galway today. Say what you want about Danny and I'm not a fan, but he is very respectful of our veterans in a meaningful way. Good on him.

How long before Danny Breen makes him remove it?

Pure Leaf in Galway is now Atlatic Canibis. Does anybody actually use these stores? My friends who partake, all have a guy. And not the same guy.

The Plaza REIT site is showing Pizza Hut on the Galway directory in the same building as Atlantic Cannabis

Pizza Hut? Expansion? What year is it, 2022 or 1982?

I'm pro Pizza Hut though so this is fine.

In less than 24 hours, an entire section of woods in Galway has been leveled. It's the area bounded by Pitts Memorial, Beaumont Hamel Way and Southlands Blvd. I have no idea what is going there. I believe it was zoned for apartment buildings but everything is subject to change.

It might be nice to see something other than more commercial development in the area. Check this out from John Hearn Architect https://www.jharchitect.ca/galleries/
Some concepts for Galway apartments.

I don't see anything on the residential or commercial site plans for that area..

Has there been any movement on the connection of Southlands Boulevard to Galway?
