It would make sense to do so. The rest of Canal Road benefited from the relocation of the canal away from the old dyke.
The original configuration of the canal and Canal Road was terrifying to drive.

Closing the Canal Road exit is probably for the best. It was a very dangerous ramp configuration and is largely obsolete with the opening of the 5th line interchange.

Highway 6 S to Highway 401 E will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am everyday to assess how deep the jet fuel has sipped into the soil.

I’ve never seen someone caught at such high speed.

I know someone who was caught in Timmins going over 200 in an 80 zone. Unfortunately it was only a year or two before the over 50 thing and he only paid a fine of somewhere between 400 and 500 dollars. He also had a good lawyer.

The PC government's highway priorities are listed in this article below (notably absent, Highway 7 between K/W and Guelph):

https://canada.constructconnect.com/...rek-warns-orba

From the article:
Quote:
Ontario’s Minister of Transportation Jeff Yurek addressed delegates attending the Ontario Road Builders’ Association’s annual convention on Feb. 5, saying he would not “sugar-coat” the province’s dire fiscal circumstances.

Notably present, Highway 3 from Town of Essex to Leamington

Could it be that Highway 3 can be twinned at-grade so ONPC ditched Highway 7 for now?

For Highway 3 near Leamington, is it possible to turn Essex County Road 18 and Highway 3 into 2 one-way streets (up to Highway 77) with some upgrade to the former?

The MTO is planning a rehabilation project for the 404 north of the Stouffville Sideroad.

What caught my interest in this, was the installation of high-tension cable median barrier between Stouffville and Aurora Roads:

Quote:
This project includes detail design, contract package preparation and design support during tendering and construction for pavement and structure rehabilitation of Highway 404 from Stouffville Road to Mulock Drive. The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following:
• Pavement rehabilitation, Stouffville Road to Aurora Road
• Structure rehabilitation of the following:
o Hwy 404 CNR O/H NBL (37-700/1)
o Hwy 404 CNR O/H SBL (37-700/2)
o Hwy 404 RR40 (Bloomington) O/P NBL (37-737/1)
o Hwy 404 RR40 (Bloomington) O/P SBL (37-737/2)
o Hwy 404/Berczy Creek Culvert (37-1216/C)
o Hwy 404/South of Bloomington Road Culvert (37-1217/C)
o Hwy 404/North of Stouffville Road Culvert (37-1563/C)
o Hwy 404/Bogart Creek Culvert (37-1219/C)
o Hwy 404/North of St. John’s Sideroad Culvert (37-1564/C)
o Hwy 404/Wesly Creek Culvert (37-1218/C)
• High tension median barrier installation, Stouffville Road to Aurora Road

Interesting - I guess that means that HOVs aren't getting extended north of Stouffville Road any time soon.

North of Stouffville? Why would someone waste money like that? If anything they should start a Newmarket Bypass that goes to Stouffville. And in the west, eventually to Orangeville and hopefully Goderich.

A new 4-lane freeway to replace the current over-capacity Highway 9, which can also be linked up to the Bradford-West Guillimbury Bypass, will be ideal.

Yes, some people may accuse me of being pro freeway. Keeping my bias in mind, they should build some more freeways. The thing is that the environmentalists want freeway demolition, but the way things are going right now there is no alternative. If one doesn't want cars, then present some alternative. Also, during the winter a walk to the nearest stop is hell, especially in Ottawa which is much colder than Toronto.

Don’t worry about the pro-highway part. Even sonysnob’s on your side for that one. (Building the GTA West Corridor, that is.)

If anything, do not learn from B.C. Instead, learn from Q.C.: MTQ’s turning Route 335 into an extension of Autoroute 19 with bus lanes too.

That, and their half-baked expressways (read: South Fraser Perimeter Road).

Public transit’s pretty good there though. Too bad it’s hard to make it good here because urban sprawl’s real.
