^ That was quick! They already installed the cabin.

I don't know but on some days it still seems somehow surreal to me how fast this one popped up. Not too long ago, the site was empty... and now we are witnessing the construction of a real 1400 footer. I guess it will take some time to really acknowledge what we are getting here. And that moment will come pretty soon...

Does anyone care to predict the topping out date?

I predict that 432 Park Avenue shall be topped out by mid-May of 2013.

You surely mean 2014. I don't see how they could construct a 400m tall box in 5 months, at least not in NYC.

It would be attached to the tower as it goes higher.

I am staring at this picture in disbelief. I know I doubted there would be a second crane here, yet there it is.

And I don't want to believe this crane will rise with the tower; it will just work on the six story section on 57th.

Hell, even One57 went up with one crane and it's got a much larger floorplate.

I'll eat my words if I'm wrong

It's not the second floor. It's just the core of the building that is back there.

The original World Trade Center went up with 6 cranes per tower. You never know.

It was four per tower.

But still, they had all that steel to lift - here the core formwork (maybe exterior formwork too) rise by themselves.

Whatever, it will fun to watch!

Can't believe we are already to the fun part with this one. I remember thinking it would be spring at the earliest before it was really rising.

It's surrounded so it will still be a while before it makes a real impact, but it will clear its immediate neighbors faster than One57 was able to since it doesn't have three 200+ meter behemoths right behind it.

isnt there some ordinance or law that the height of the core cant exceed the height of the exterior steel? Or was that just used on the WTC site?
