Really??? That's awesome! Someone go down there and take pictures xD

I'm not getting too excited though. this has been said 20 times before. What I don't understand is they said they were waiting for good weather to leave and now they decide to leave in the middle of a snowstorm??

A telegram article regarding the old, vacant Dominion (Loblaws) properties around town.

They're probably hoping she'll go down just offshore and they won't have to pay to take her all the way to whatever yard she's going to.

I don't think it was as much the weather as it was making the boat sea-worthy. I saw crews working the boat last week for the first time since it got here. Hopefully this is true and it will be gone

I am growing very tired of slow days. I miss the ye olde days of 10 pages per day! Maybe christopher chafe can give us the render a little early??

Oh, and btw, Signal, thanks for randomly comparing me to Abed that time. I started watching community, It's an amazing show! Pierce is the best, hands down xD

Agreed. However, I think we need to be saving up our energy for when these rumoured developments all come public.

I have a feeling it will pick up soon enough!

Oh, Community is amazing. And I was joking, BTW. I don't think you're THAT weird. Just freakishly clever. And I was dying laughing thinking of Abed as having "a touch of the Asperger's" because I still laugh at, "No, you don't have a touch of the diabetes. You have diabetes."

yet another uniquely NL thing... we even make the animals that are not native to here unique hahahaha

White Coyotes?

Quote:
National Geographic is highlighting what appears to be a unique Newfoundland phenomenon - white coyotes. The author of the article 'Snow Coyotes and Spirit Bears,' Carl Zimmer, says the Department of Environment and Conservation collects coyote carcasses as part of their research into the animals, and out of the 6-thousand specimens collected, six are snow white. Zimmer says the animals aren't albinos, or animals who lack pigment; instead, these coyotes carry the gene for white fur, helping them blend into a snowy environment. The gene mutation is similar to one found in golden retrievers. One theory offered by Dawn Marshall, a biologist with Memorial University, is that in March of 2001, a male golden retriever ran off with a coyote and was never seen again, leading to speculation that they may have interbred, resulting in a coyote-dog hybrid that may have inherited the white mutation. Because the coyote population was relatively small at the time, the mutation may have been more prevalent in the population before it exploded, meaning two coyotes carrying the mutation would have a greater chance of breeding, resulting in more white coyotes.
