One Chicago is really making its presence felt. This is the first picture where it really is giving the Hancock a run for its money. Love how One Chicago is coming together, and fitting in with the skyline.

^ Agreed. I didn't expect OC to have more girth than St Regis, but it is totally overtaking her when viewed from the Kennedy, and will probably appear as tall as St Regis when it's topped out.

We need one more highrise on the R side of this pic (south side of Chicago Ave) to really get that canyon effect going

I believe that old currency exchange is supposed to bite the dust for midrise?

^ That's correct. Not quite tall enough, but it will be on the south side of Chicago Ave and will therefore cast a shadow, which is my favorite part about it. Shadows rock.

Amazing how fast Chicago Ave went from zero to hero.

Also Chicago and Wells has been demoed for development.

Question that isn't related to this building but the area:

Is there plans to widen sidewalks in the area? I live in the South Loop and we have tons of very generous sidewalks, however, when I am walking around the Near North I find them to be quite small for the amount of pedestrian activity.

Some new projects have incorporated open arcaded areas at street level to extend the sidewalk. But then they just fill back up with outdoor seating or planter barricades. I really think that should be a condition for new development along state street at the minimum. Pre-pandemic when things were really busy, you would often have to walk in the street to pass by people.

Plus there might be some enhanced architecture. For example, a 2-3 story tall open arcade would at least set the facade of the parking podium back behind columns so you don't have this harsh street wall.

Thanks for the pix, Chris.
Like a trophy wife. She may waste a ton of your money, but she's damn pretty to look at. Especially at night.

^ Agreed, but tough women who’d say “Like a trophy husband. He may waste a ton of your money on bourbon and car parts, but he’s damn handsome to look at. Especially at night.“

A *Real* woman. ...sorry, thread is off the rails.
