A plan review was approved and released today for a seven-story residential building at 827 W. 12th. There will be two additional undground parking levels.

So true. I used to be able to name, list the height, developer and architect for anything going up in the 00's & 10's .....these days I've either lost slight interest or simply can't keep up.

A CVC determination was filed yesterday for 701 W 6th. It's the site of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. IIRC, there was an ABJ article early last year that stated Kairoi had plans for a residential project at the site. But there were no specifics about the project. Maybe someone remembers the story?

San Antonio-based multifamily developer Kairoi Residential on March 9 purchased a quarter-block along West Sixth and Rio Grande streets, CEO Michael Lynd said.

It’s unclear how tall Kairoi’s new tower might be. The current zoning of the property allows for a tower with a 15:1 floor-to-area ratio. For a nearly 19,300-square-foot site, the tower could be about 292,000 square feet or about half the size of the Frost Bank Tower.

That would fabulously further solidify what is already the most visible CVC in the city, from the Pfluger Bridge. It's going to come up right in between Fifth & West and SEVEN. I just love that unique feature of this skyline.

I don't know the history of this house at 307 E. 2nd St. by the convention center or how it survived all these years. But a "Pre-plan Submittal Development Consultation" to discuss the trees on the site with the City was filed today. The site is NOT under a CVC.

This house is in the middle of the half block just north of the new Marriott.
If I'm remembering correctly, that half-block wasn't going to be part of the CC expansion, but on one of the the city's maps they'd indicated that there was another hotel reserved for that spot. No brand or developer indicated.

It ticked me off when we were booted out of our favorite football tailgate spot several years back so UT could build the little Ellsworth Kelly art museum behind the Blanton.
Morning tailgates were especially pleasant while drinking Bloody Marys and eating breakfast tacos while gazing down the treeline at the beautiful view of the Capitol.
Price of progress I guess.

We usually have a good time ragging on the outdated urban planning principles of the later 20th century — urban renewal, highways everywhere, other weirdness — so it’s a little embarrassing to admit that Hancock Center, the 34-acre strip mall

This is lipstick on a pig. Hancock is prefect for mixed-use with high density. Anything less is a waste. I’m sure the nimby neighbors would shit a brick.
