New Development on North Temple

Does anyone know what is going to be built on the north side of North Temple between 900 W and 1000 W between the coin laundry and McDonalds? There was a bank building that had been sitting empty for probably 8 years there that has recently been demolished. There is heavy machinery in site and there are sidewalk covers there as well.

The old Brighton Bank building. A little bird said it is 130 micro units, possibly unparked. I'm too lazy to do the homework.

I just did some sleuthing as well, and you heard correctly. Here is the description from the citizen portal: This project is a 6 story building with the first level being a concrete podium structure and then 5 floor of wood construction above that. The ground level consists of parking on the north side of the project and business space along the street front. the remaining levels consist of 30 micro and studio apartments, for a total of 150 units.

Hi Marvland,

I hope the link below can be helpful for info on the Rose Park project which seems to be titled Rose Park - Jordan River Watershed Project

https://www.slc.gov/utilities/projec...rshed-project/

[QUOTE=Marvland;8973370]Aside: Why oh why is the forum interface so MS Dos 1997? No image hosting is a massive PIA. Ahem, ask and ye shall receive. Again, this is at the river bend at Rose Park Community Garden across the river from Day Riverside library. Still can't find the project name. First pic is o really crappy one of the 3 Rivers project right now taken from 900 West and 1300 S. The rest are RP improvements:

The Regent St. Hotel may be seeing a resurrection from the dead. New owners/partners involved with a new larger, taller design occupying the lot on the east side of Plum Alley as well as the west parcels. No public info out yet but it seems serious.

Great news! Resurrecting that project would be a dream come true. It was such a classy design that would have really complimented Regent Street, the Gallivan Center, and Kensington.

Here's hoping!

According to the first page of this thread, the original Regent hotel was supposed to be 20 stories and 330 feet. I forgot that it was planned to be that tall. I was thinking it was going to be closer to the Monaco in height. I'm excited to see the new proposal.

Liberty Sky elevator?

This is probably just ignorance on my part but the Liberty Sky project looks like it doesn't have an elevator core (unless it's hidden from the Wells Fargo web cam). Anyone know why this is? Will it just be that the elevators won't go to ground level?

Yes, this building will be stairs only.
It’s an attempt to raise the rents on the lower floors too.

(No offense). Couldn’t resist. Probably a lame joke

The floor plans show three elevators (1 service) on the side of the building that's farther away from the street. I agree that it currently looks sort of unconventional.

Is Plum Alley considered to be the ramp coming down from the large parking garage? If so, would they be butting right up against the Kensington mid-rise portion?

Here's hoping! Exciting to hear about ANY hotel project going on in the current environment. They must be pretty confident that the industry will rebound if it's being talked about seriously.

Kensington and Regent Street Hotel going in will do wonders for downtown vibrancy. Let's hope they're both still on the table.

It is the road that runs next to it and under the garage.

I do think this is great news about the Regent St. Hotel. Hopefully it follows a similar mixture of boutique hotel and condos/apartments.

I know I mentioned before that boutique hotels follow a different model than the major hotel brands. Boutique hotels serve a different clientele. They generally see growth when the major brands are seeing a reduction in usage.

I do think it would be amazing to see our current proposed/planned towers actually happen. Depending on the overlap, we could potentially see 5 towers over 330' under construction in 1 phase or another at the same time.

Heights may be off as I can't remember the exact heights planned/proposed:

Tower 8 - 385'
CCH - 375'
Kensington Tower - 448'
Pantages / Utah Theater Tower - 375'+
Regent Street Hotel - 330'+

We also have The West Quarter (Block 67) phase 2 coming, albeit later.

It is a really exciting time for SLC.

I agree, exciting time for downtown.

I think 95 State is supposed to be 395 ft and I'm guessing that the CCH will be between 315-330 ft now because it lost a few floors. So by my count, our current list of highrise projects/proposals is:
  • Kensington Tower (2024) - 448 ft
  • Utah Theater Tower (2024?) - 375-450 ft
  • 95 State at City Creek (2021) - 395 ft
  • Block 67 Phase II (2024+) - 375 ft
  • Regent St. Hotel (?) - 330+ ft
  • Hyatt Regency (2022) - 315-330 ft
  • Liberty Sky (2021) - 262 ft
4-5 of these will/would crack the top 10 tallest for SLC.

So I found a visualization here of the SLC skyline that included Liberty Sky, 95 State, the CCH, 255 S. State, and what I think is Block 67 Phase II (orange outlines). I decided to take a stab at adding Kensington and the Regent St. Hotel and this is what I came up with:
