Never used one myself, it does seem "more" sanitary although I wouldn't want to share one.

If I ever get a place I think I'll get a Japanese toilet with one and try to add it to my routine.

Almost every country I've visited uses some form of bidet. It's a miracle of bummel hygiene that North Americans seem completely oblivious to. Why anyone might prefer using their hand is completely beyond me especially in a hand-shaking, back-slapping culture like ours...

I love a bidet but bidet + TP is best. The worst is when it’s just a hose beside the toilet.
