Its one thing to make a tower work in the day, but at night, with the intention of matching the hues, fine work. The ripples in the facade seem to scatter light and create shadow in a way that makes it work, from the looks of it.
Couldn't have said it better myself! This statement encompasses everything I wanted to say as a comment/compliment of the beautifulness' of the buildings lines and colour of glass!

This is largely due to the "completeness" of the loop though. There's not a lot of ways to get a site suitable for large projects like Vista or OCS. That's a good thing IMO and hopefully a handful of the remaining large sites like parking garages can be redveloped into something huge at some point.

Also I definitely don't mind the modern end caps to the park. Once the Roosevelt and Michigan site is developed the "bookends" of the park will be complete. The tradition of going tall on ends of the park started with 1 Pru in the immediate post war era.

LVDW, question, you mentioned multiple levels of Wacker going thru Vista...Isn't it just the lower?

This is my favorite angle, this one right here. I think this is a tower of many faces (multiple personalities) and this one right here is the one that has a aquatic, psychedelic vibe to it.

This angle is cool too, but not as pronounced.

Indeed, more than a few people (including myself) have said the same thing. And luckily, Vista is often seen or photographed from this angle, because many people walk along or cross the Chicago River in this area west of Vista.

The apparent height is given by the arctan of the actual height (relative to where you're standing) divided by the lateral distance. (Note that here we're inventing a cartesian grid, so x and y aren't exactly positions on the geoid as that would neglect earth curvature).

So for a building with at (x_i,y_i,z_i), the apparent height for an observer at (x,y,z) is atan( (z_i-z) / sqrt((x_i-x)^2 + (y_i-y)^2). We also have the constraint that (x,y,z) must be above the local geoid.

In order for n buildings to have the same apparent height, we must therefore have:

C = (z_i-z)^2 / ( (x_i-x)^2 + (y_i-y)^2)

for i = (1..n).

For two buildings, one can with sufficient algebra find a relation z(x,y) of positions where the two buildings have the same height. Adding another building, one gets three such relations. It's possible z(x,y) = z'(x,y) = z''(x,y) somewhere but I am not sure how likely that is. For 5 I would think some very special symmetry relations must be needed. It would be fun to write a program to find the least-squares solution to the "equal height" problem for an arbitrary set of buildings. I have a 15 hour flight to NZ coming up... if I feel bored and don't feel like doing real work maybe I'll do that.

Ferris Wheel - Solar did you use a lens skirt to avoid reflections or do they keep the cars dark ?

Had the black framing, seen in the blow-through floors, been placed throughout the whole building, this thing would be 10x cooler.

Overall a nice building but the open vent (and balconies which kind of look like a zipper) ruin it a bit.

The shape and scale of this thing are pretty awesome though

Nice photoshop, solar. Looks real nice with only glass on the south side. Oh well, we have the north side for that!

Hot take but I love the BTF. In some of Solar's (spectacular) photos the last frustum appears to be floating.
