The real question will be, "Which do we like better- Vista or One Chicago?"

I think Vista. One Chicago is stunning IMO, the taller component, but I feel like the 2nd tower (shorter) really ruins the good vibe it has going along with the bulkly base connecting the two. The taller component would look great as a stand-alone. Imagine that design, maybe up to the 1200 foot mark, with the ratio of the setbacks in tune with that height. Oh... it would look glorious.

Gotta go with One Chicago. Consider what that building will do for that neighborhood. Wish it was a bit taller, but it is going to be really nice judging by the renderings and VMU pictures recently posted on that thread.

Vista is nice, don't get me wrong... but they cheaped out on the facade by going window wall. If I had the money to live in either, I would do One Chicago.

I don't know how anyone could even commit to a decision like that. One Chicago is two sticks in the ground. I was super grumpy about Vista as it was going up because they pussied out about the green glass last minute. (Too expensive they said. Apparently green is a very expensive dye)

Vista is amazing. Wow. Just great. This building is going to please the masses for eternity. (well, at least a hundred years)

I'm going to go with Vista, because it's more visually striking, pushes the envelope on design, and will be transformative for Lakeshore East. The connection between the Riverwalk and the Park at Lakeshore East will be game changer IMO. It will open up the neighborhood and will dramatically improve the pedestrian experience, which as someone who doesn't drive I definitely appreciate. While yes One Chicago should spur more development in its area, Vista will have a more immediate effect upon completion and will connect an area of the city which at the moment is very secluded. It also provides a great deal of architectural interest to an area that's pretty bland (talking about the shorter buildings in Lakeshore East and the absolute crap across the river).

When does the glass go in the balconies? Is it typical for that to be last? Are they using different colored glass?

As seen in the pic set in post #6538 by BVictor1.

This particular shot I really like by BVictor 1:

Almost as if the tower is breathing.

Not many towers can pull this type of look off where its a treat for the eyes depending on the direction one is facing. The view from the harbor/lake is one of the weakest perspectives IMO, but the angle above, is bravo!

I don't want to say it doesn't look good from a far, but the angle one is viewing this matters IMO. Like from the Park, Grant Park I believe, it is not its best moment, but from a river angle, its amazing.
Spot on

Can you be more specific in what covering you're talking about?

The latest plan made public is that they're going to paint everything inside the blow-thru black so that it recedes.

I understood that the color was for environmental reasons having to do with birds. I thought I read that there is an ordinance in place that dictates the inside be all black

I believe someone mentioned this a while ago, but I think Vista is on Building Giants on the Sci Channel tonight. The description just says Chicago supertall so I’m assuming.

OMG it is!!! I'm so gosh darn happy right now!! The entire time this tower was going up I was super into these films, and most are a decade plus old on buildings like trump.

I kept thinking, please.. please let there be some sort of film crew documenting the rise of this historic super tall. Cannot wait to see the unique views they got for us! And more hopefully some insight into this complex project. Gahh... im so happy.

Also.. horray! First couple panels are up on the lobby, thanks victor. Looks shiny
