Schools don't change location all that often, so I'm pretty sure that's the location of the picture.

The original photo is of the wood framed Los Feliz School. It burned down. Then a concrete/stone school was built in its place. It was destroyed by the Long Beach earthquake. Don't recall years for the above. By the time I attended elementary school there from 1955 to 1962, it was the same building as now fronts New Hampshire. There are more buildings on the school lot than when I was there AND the school is now a magnet school. The first wooden building fronted on Prospect Avenue/Hollywood Blvd. The other two versions fronted on New Hampshire.

Academy Awards in Hollywood today! Here's a photo listed as taken on Sunset Blvd.

The 46th Academy Awards were held Tuesday (Tuesday?) April 2, 1974, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion,
a drawing of which you can see behind the Oscar on the billboard. The Sting won Best Picture that year.

Notice the billboard says 7:00 p.m. I remember when I grew up in New York State the Oscars would
sometimes start at 10:00 p.m.!

I was trying to find out where on Sunset Blvd. the above photo was taken.
Hollywood Photographs has this photo of Cine Mobile from 1973, saying the
location was at Sunset Blvd. and Sunset Plaza Drive.

The two tower buildings in the distant background of the color photo must be the two towers in Century City.
This area on the south side of Sunset Blvd. has been very much altered since the photo was taken, unlike the
north side where Sunset Plaza Drive connects to Sunset, which is mostly the same. I wonder what the original
intent of the Cine Mobile building was when it was built. It doesn't seem like it'd been built for this company.

"Very much altered" indeed:

But the billboard rights were maintained...

A few items regarding the various buildings of the Los Feliz School...

LAT June 19, 1914

The Herald reported on September 8, 1914, that the building had been repaired and had just reopened. The next building replacing it would open a year later:

After the 1915 version was condemned following the LB quake, the LAT announced plans for the current incarnation on Aug 28, 1936....

More slides have surfaced of the 1969 construction of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services at 313 N Figueroa Street.

The location was first figured out by Hoss using an earlier slide. Check it out HERE

This first slide (of the new batch) has a great view of the Union Oil Building.
