I believe the address places it across the street from St. Vibiana.

If you like old cowboy and Western movies you'll like the website that ER posted in his comment....and below the photo. Its a goldmine of information and lots of photos.

Imagine getting 40 saddled horses to a movie location before dawn as we see in the photo. It takes several large trucks, lots of coordination and a whole platoon of movie livestock wranglers.

There were all kinds of fun places south of the Higgins Building on that block. Anyway, everything north of the two single-story buildings is a parking lot now. Amazingly the 1902 building which housed "The Arrow" theater, at No. 251) is still there, but unrecognizable (click on FFF's post for the gsv).

(Can you figure out which building housed the Penny Pleasure Palace from the map below the photo? I think it was the "Uncle John's" building)

I'm curious about this tiny room facing the street.
Is it the tiniest apartment ever, or a 'store-front' type of space?

The garage (and the tiny 'mystery' space) is/are unattached to the main building. (there's a tree between them)

Oh, I love that one. It's on Crescent Heights and Blackburn, a couple of blocks south of Third. I've spent a lot of time sitting outside of it in my googlemobile. I've never been able to figure out what the little room is.

The volumes, the windows, the terraces...everything, it's perfect. What fun it would be to own it and do it up as it should be to share with friends. One to dream on for sure.

According to Zillow, it was built in 1936 and has 5 baths and 4 beds, making it 4 one-beds and a single(?). Zillow estimates the value at almost $2mm.

You might be right about the little green room t2 -but it looks more like a studio size. If it's the single, maybe it's where the apartment manager lived.

I'm curious about the gray sign center left that I believe says "Riviera Wilshire".
Does that name ring a bell to anyone? I wonder if it was a hotel...or maybe the name of an apartment building?

You can read the sign a bit better in this enlargement.

I am also intrigued by this formal-like 'garden' area in the foreground. So what business (or residence) do you think this was in front of?

I don't see how a building could be built between the sidewalk and the mural. It must be one skinny-ass building.

That light colored slash angling at the right may be the Arroyo Seco River before it was paved with concrete. Also, the photo may be just south of the Rose bowl.

That's a good possibility CBD. I wish the TWA Skyliner was flying a bit higher.
