This was sent to me via phone from my friend working on the Millennium, (spelling?). I believe this is the first pic of the Fairmont crane. Sorry about the quality. Brent's electric company put in a bid for the Independent, they lost the one for the Fairmont. You might remember I mentioned him working on the Colorado tower. I hope they get it. It would give us some insider info. on that project.

Doug Manchester, the elder, is selling his San Diego Union newspaper group for a $25 million dollar loss. I don't think that matters one way or the other regarding Little Dougie's project here in Austin, but it suggests that the Manchester family could use the cash. ...or it suggests that they are bailing out of industry in a downward spiral and want to get out before losing even more money.

It is a $73 million cash AND $12 million stock deal, so they are still somewhat invested in print media with the Tribune Corp. You would think that Doug the Elder might have seen the handwriting on the wall when he bought the SD Union operation less than a decade ago for $110 million. Guess his ego got out in front of his business sense. Ouch!

I have a decent view into the site. How (and sorry if it's already been addressed) do you post pictures?

It's best to first re-size them so they aren't huge. Then you have to upload them to the internet to a photo hosting site. I like http://imgur.com/

Once your photos are uploaded there you can post them here. You can grab the links on each photo by clicking on them It opens a list of options to the right. You want the BBCode (message boards & forums) option.

Click that and copy and paste it into your message on the forum.

They are down pretty deep. I can't wait for this to go vertical.

They still have to dig out that "dirt ramp" into the site. It may be another month before it goes vertical.

You know what's funny...this crane is about as tall as the "spire" is going to be on this building.

The stains on the walls reminded me of The Who's 'Who's Next' album cover.
