I'm probably going to be criticized for this, but I would actually prefer this building be a few hundred feet taller.

Now that I see it in the 800-900 ft. range, I think it's current height could be doubled and it would not be unwieldy. Especially with nearby buildings of similar height planned, this may be just "one of the crowd" in the end.

But it's hard to tell during construction. I'll have to wait until completion until I really see whether 1,400 ft. is the perfect height given the dimensions.

I think that just speaks to how insanely massive NYC's skyline is, I mean seriously, how many cities would make a group of 1400 footers look insignificant?

I do agree it would be nice to have a signature tower somewhere in the 1600' range though in NYC.

You have it at 1 WTC, don't you?

Yeah, but we're talking Midtown, not Lower Manhattan. 432 Park is around 6 miles from 1 WTC.

Plus, 1 WTC has the spire. It would be nice to have a "real" 1600-1800 foot tower in Midtown.

We'll probably get it soon, though, given the real estate market. Plenty of development sites along 57th Street and in Hudson Yards.

I meant like the main bulk of a building go past 15-1600

1WTC is very tall, and the spire looks good at night, but it's a 500+ meter structure, not building (at least not all the way.)

You are on a forum of people obsessed with really tall buildings. Literally no one is going to criticize you for preferring something taller.

Towards the end of Vanilla Ice, we see Tom Cruise riding an elevator in this tower in Midtown, which seems to have no end to its height. Hey New York! Why not take that as premonition and make a go of building that high?

(T. Cruise: TECH SUPPORT!!!!!...... TECH SUPPORT!!!!!..... &c.... lmao!)

I've been saying that. While most of the talk has centered around the concrete, it will be a mostly glass surfaced building.

Posted by NYGuy on the 1WTC thread, you can also see 432, as seen from New Rochelle, Westchester Co. about 23 km north of Midtown Manhattan, the views from there are absolutely magnificent.

The buildings in the foreground are Co-op City, in the Bronx (5 km to the south) and the wooded area are low density, suburban homes on Pelham Manor.

BTW, the view is from this building, called Halstead New Rochelle.

Those are some amazing views from New Rochelle.

When this is done, you will easily have views of 432 Park from towers in White Plains and Stamford.

Nice point. I wonder how far up the CT coast we'll be able to see NYC from once 432 Park is T/O. The farthest up I can see the ESB is Fairfield, CT.

Pine Creek Beach, Southport:
45.2 miles from ESB

(Note: 432 Park is not in here yet!)

(Not my pic)

Boy, will it stick out from Greenwich:

Greenwich Point:
~27.5 miles from ESB

(not my pic)

That first pic is maybe the most stunning example of Earth's curvature I've ever seen.
The ancient lighthouse of Alexandria has jack-all on this.

I was able to see the midtown skyline and the ESB from Harriman State Park on Bear Mountain one day hiking. Unfortunately I didn't take a pic, but I found this one:

(Its about 50 miles from Midtown)

What I find interesting in this pic is that the 52 story 100 United Nations plaza (pyramidal top) looks like it is not even near half the height of the Trump tower.

Those pics are all great! A "New York Skyline from really far away" thread would be fascinating.
