No kidding. There's no way I could put that much detail into my downtown model. It would take an untold amount of pieces to do it and would likely weigh ton.

It blows my mind how you guys can look at real buildings and come up with a LEGO piece ane technique that allows you to replicate it in such a realistic way. I'm mostly shooting for scale and general idea with my model, but you guys are on another level for sure.

These are amazing. The ability to see a building then visualize how to recreate it with legos just astounds me. Such a gift.

Interesting. I've thought about doing that too, but I've been holding out for 1x1 trans black plates . Do you feel it makes a big enough difference in appearance?

Considering how mine was always hollow, I think it makes a huge difference. I remember you saying yours has bricks behind the clear plates. In that case, I think the difference wouldn't be as drastic as it was for me. My version 2 is still hollow, except for where the 1x2 are turned to accomodate the 1x3 window size. I noticed that bricks behind trans black plates really don't effect the overall scheme at all.

So are you planning to do a group photo of your models? I'm jealous. I wish I had your talents. Nice job including "the ledge."

Hmm, I wasn't even aware your first model was hollow.

Black elements behind trans-clear works well visually except when photographed with a flash. Trans-black might do a better job there.

Believe it or not, it gives off a bronze sheen in some lights, just like the real building in off-lighting.

That might be the reason why LEGO calls that color trans-brown

When I was younger I used to play with lego's and build skyline's all the time! I miss those days. I should get back into the hobby, work my brain and creativity a little bit since I suck ass in designing stuff on a computer.

JSR you crazy crazy man! These models are just amazing!!!! The way you capture detail and create the models to look so closely like the real thing! I am beyond jealous and envious of your talent! I'm not even from Chicago but that model is bad ass!!!

I'm waiting for a model of 1 WTC.

Umm, those are actually my models.

JSR actually did One World Trade Center, as well as the rest of the WTC complex, about a year ago. Hope you don't mind if I link your model Spencer
