Houston likes to sprawl so much even the skyscrapers are spread out.

Very nice pictures, it looks very hot. That's a selling point for some folks.

I'm always surprised Houston doesn't use as many palm trees as it could.

Nice photos!

Oh it does trust me!

They are planted in almost every new development. Some of the palms in Houston's inner loop are well over 100 years old.

It looks like the Inner-Loop has impressively come along nicely over the last 10 years. Still a ways to go, though. I need to go back for a visit to see it for myself.

I miss the random torrential downpours that separated the men from the boys on the highway

Also miss the subtropical-ness urbany forest

The Houstons are truly massive far and wide. I just wish I could check it out in some way *outside of the airport* when I'm there.

We all know Houston likes to tear down older structures but this picture shows they still have some nice older towers!

Absolutely fantastic collection of photos. You truly captured Houston.

This photo however, is honestly THE BEST I have seen of the view from Buffalo Bayou and Houston's overall expansive development. Holy crap. I just noticed how the Maya Temple appears to have built literally on top of the Earth from this perspective. My mind has been forever blown.

I've noticed that Texan cities (at least Dallas and Houston) seem to use some sort of light/beige colored concrete for their roads, almost chalk-colored. What is it made of, and is there a reason for it?

love it. the climate of houston contributes to an aesthetic that i strangely like (and one not entirely unfamiliar to me around here with our 4 month long breeze-less summer and refineries/low lying factories). it seems so unlikely to me that such thrillingly over-the-top growth would occur to such an extent in that sort of geography/climate, at least historically. i suppose that only adds to my habitual rubbernecking of houston.
