sopas_ej is correct...this is the southeast corner of Beverly Blvd. & La Cienega.
My first job in Los Angeles was at the Beverly Center.
I would often go across the street to the Rexall's. It reminded me of the drug stores in the midwest (I was somewhat homesick).
If I remember correctly there was a gas station across the street on the northeast corner.
Adjacent to the gas station was the very popular under 21 club called 'The Odyssey'.
On the northwest side of Beverly Blvd. & La Cienega was 'Tail of the Pup' which I frequented for lunch (before it was moved a block west).
The original 'Ma Maison' restaurant was located in this area along Beverly Blvd.
Further to the west at 9039 Beverly Blvd. was the VERY famous 'Chasen's' restaurant.
