I think Californians have relatively little to do with it. There aren't that many here and a lot of those who did come here did so as a rejection of California. Joe Rogan is a classic
example. I can see them shifting less populated states like AZ and NV but Texas is huge. I've read it's more native Texans that shifted the state more to the center; younger/ more diverse/ educated while the white/ Christian/ conservative stronghold is ageing out.
