Many thanks to Odinthor for digging up that 1911 article about the 'Arcade Terrace' entry and steps.

& just as many thanks to Flyingwedge for posting that phenomenal aerial photograph of Arcade Terrace in the earliest days of it's existence.

I agree with t2....it does look like low benches in-between the stanchions.

There might even be a total of 6 stanchions if you count this one (it's mate is hidden in shadow)

I believe the original stairs from 1911 are still in place, despite being 106 years old!


Note the stairs in the following pics of a hypothetical building on the vacant lot behind 1669.

They have the same exact shape as the stairs in FW's 1922 aerial photograph.
