Photograph caption dated July 21, 1983 reads, "An LAPD, pipe in hand, ponders the mess on Fifth Street near Hope after a truck loaded with Scientology books by L. Ron Hubbard failed to make a turn and crashed through a wall before overturning yesterday. The driver of the truck managed to jump from the vehicle and escaped injury. No other vehicles were involved."
