Some 2020 murders numbers I compiled for these cities. They came from the local news of these places which themselves gathered the data from their local police.

Houston - 400, and that was as of December 29. That was a 42% increase over 2019, and 100 more than the the highs from 2015 and 2016.

Dallas - 251. That was the highest number in Dallas in 15 years.

San Antonio - 128. That was the highest number in San Antonio since 2016 when they had 149.

Fort Worth - 112. That was the highest number in Fort Worth since 1994. Their 2020 number was also a 59% increase over 2019.

Austin - 44. That was the number for the City of Austin city limits. There were a total of 68 in the 5 county metro. 2020 was the 2nd highest number of murders in Austin's history. The year with the most was 1991 with 49 murders. Outside of Travis County, Hays County saw the highest number of murders in the metro with 7, followed by 5 in Williamson County, 2 in Caldwell County, and one in Bastrop County. The number of murders in Travis County that were outside of Austin's city limits was 9. Of the 68 murders in the metro, 51 were committed with a gun totaling 84.4% of murders in 2020.

Lubbock - 35. That was up 105% from 2019, and the highest number in 34 years.

Corpus Christi - 34. That's up from 31 in 2019.

Killeen - 26. They had 16 in 2019.

El Paso - 25. They also had a total of 32 murders in El Paso County, meaning they had a total of 7 in the county outside of El Paso's city limits. The 25 murders they had in El Paso was fewer than the 40 murders they had in 2019. The year with the highest number of murders in El Paso came in 1993 when they had 56. In 2010, they had only 5.

Beaumont - 19. That's one more than 2019. Their record high was 40 in 1994, and most recently, they had 30 in 2014.

Waco - 17. That was the highest number in Waco since 1994.

Amarillo - The 2019 number is 15.

Midland - 13.

Wichita Falls - 7. They had 4 in 2019.

Abilene - 3 as of September 22. They had 6 in 2019.
