I don't remember if we ever pinpointed the address--not surprisingly, there have been a number of Famous Cafés in L.A. over the years. I knew that the DU
NKIRK exchange was downtown; looking closely at the picture revealed what appeared to be a "W" (for west) and a short street name between it and "St"...and likewise figuring the postal zone number to be "17"... I tried a few numbered streets and came up with the Famous Café Coffee Shop in the '56 directory at 2017 West 7th St.... phone number DU
NKIRK 3-7000... must have been a digit change between '54 & '56. Here's the story:
