It seems like things are definitely still alive in CU.
I have to agree on the designs tho. Man... some of those material choices and colors are really terrible. On some of the buildings it's like they chose accent colors and materials, and put them on 50% of the façade.
The bulk/massing of the buildings can get pretty generic too - like just a straight up box in some instances, but I'm not so mad about that given that it's campustown.
I'm sure the planners in Champaign would love to be more critical with on the architecture on some of these buildings, but I bet there is a strong campustown alliance of landlords/property owners that makes this difficult.
