The waterfront was mostly industrial stuff back in the day that has since been demolished, so it was left as a clean slate. Nothing around for anything new to worry about matching.

The area around Capital Condos by contrast is almost entirely intact with most of the structures within a 4 block radius of the site being a hundred years old or more. Fitting in is more of a concern.

That said, I think the way the developer is doing it here works, and I support the project.
