Growth continues in Shenandoah with new developments

The Shenandoah City Council has approved zoning for a new 69-acre metropark planned for the east side of Interstate 45.

The Sam Moon Group is planning to build the development, which will include apartments, hotels, entertainment, retail, restaurants and high-rise office buildings, said Garry Watts, mayor of Shenandoah.

The company is planning to build the development near its current Sam Moon Shopping Center.

"It's going to include a full-service hotel, entertainment venue, four or five multi-story office buildings, 900 Class A apartments," said Greg Smith, Shenandoah's city administrator. "It is going to be a great development for the city."

The development will take about five years to complete, depending on the market, Smith said.

"It just depends on the development and the demand as The Woodlands continues to build-out and their buildings get full," Smith said. "And with Texas Children's Hospital and Methodist coming into that immediate area, those office buildings could go even faster."
