That's a great site, Dylan. Lee has quite the Buck Rogers imagination. I was struck by the
resemblance of the (unbuilt) office building above to Coulters on Wilshire by Stiles O. Clements:

We've discussed Coulters before, but I recently came across this interesting ad in the Times
from 1937:
Los Angeles Times
Perhaps the death of the founder's
wife that year had something to do
with the rumors. It seems that her
son-in-law, Dr. Robert McReynolds,
who ran the company and was
known for his interest in architec-
ture, pushed forward with the new
building on the Miracle Mile. Sadly
it was demolished in the early '80s.
