In fact, I'm trying to find an example as we speak. (so far nothing)

The W. C. Fields film
It's A Gift features a pulley-driven clothesline across an alley as part of the plot. Fields has been driven outside near dawn to get some sleep by his termagant wife, and he keeps getting awakened by annoying sounds. One of these sounds is the squeaking of a pulley as a woman from across the alley is putting fresh laundry out on the line. It is the most annoying squeak ever devised by man.
