When he was only 30, Haig Patigian, designer of the sculptural figures for the Richfield Building, sculpted
this statue of the assassinated President William McKinley, which now resides here in my home town of Arcata, California. The bronze statue was cast in San Francisco just before the 1906 earthquake, which it only just barely survived. It was dedicated with great fanfare on Arcata Plaza on July 4, 1906.
