Temple's new home boom building a stronger economic base

Home construction heated up this summer as Temple housing activity doubled in July and August compared to the same period last year.
Single-family home permits climbed 120 percent in August and 76 percent in July compared to 2011, according to the city of Temple. Ninety-two permits were filed during the two-month period, up from 46 last year.
