I wanted to check to see if this building survived but I don't believe there is a Friend Avenue in today's West Hollywood. (Google Maps turns up nothing). Perhaps the name of the street was changed, like Prospect Avenue becoming Hollywood Boulevard.

Most north-south streets jog at that stretch of Santa Monica; north of Santa Monica Blvd, 1/2 block west of Stanley is Spaulding, and the next street west is Genesee.
I drove the Googlemobile around a bit but didn't find the house. The street numbering may have changed too.
