That building looks like it was influenced by the Empire State Building only with a shorter modern rendition. Its what I think the Frost tower would be closer to in height if it was built today, sans the awful bulky base and podium. What Austin needs are more buildings like Battle House, no podium, point or pencil towers from the ground up. It makes them seem taller than they are, definitely more elegant.
I accept 44 East will sit atop a bulky podium being all residential, but it would look amazing if it remained the same height without it, and as I said, it would look taller and more elegant. That's why 90 Rainey appeals to me more.
